World Water Day is back!!
*The spot-booking process is only for Dhaka participants.*
World Water Day has been observed by the United Nation on the 22nd March every year. It is a day to celebrate the importance of water and make a difference for the members of the global population who suffer from water related issues. This year The United Nations call is “Water and Sustainable Development”. It provides an important opportunity to consolidate and build upon the previous World Water Days to highlight water’s role in the sustainable development agenda.
Like other developing countries, Bangladesh is also facing regular water crisis in different parts. In Bangladesh a staggering 60% of the population that has to endure unsafe drinking water. Statistics show that, in a capital city some 7 million of squatters who live in slums don not have access to basic services. The result of this sub-human environs are not surprising; each year, thousands upon thousands of people, including 50,000 children die of cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid and other waterborne diseases.
DWASA has projected water demand as 150 liters per person per day (l/p/d). Empirical evidence shows that one-third of the city dwellers receive only 40 liter/person/day and they have to manage their daily activities with this little amount of water.
Requirement of Water Per Person Per Day:
– 4 Liter of Drinking Water
– 20 Liters for Sanitation
– 15 Liters for Bathing
– 30 Liters for Food Preparation
– In total A minimum of 70 Liters of Water is Required for One person
